A Thanksgiving Reflection

One Less Place at the Table

Tomorrow will be my first Thanksgiving in thirty years without my daughters at the table. And I am not sad about it. I am grateful.

Because it means I raised two strong, independent women who are out in the world. Building their own lives. Chasing their own dreams. Creating their own traditions.

That is the point, is it not?

We spend so many years worrying about balance. Trying to be everything to everyone. Wondering if the long hours, the business trips, the missed moments will come back to haunt us.

And then one day, life gives you the answer in the most unexpected way. Your grown child tells someone how proud they are of you. Not because you were perfect. Because you were present. In your purpose. In your truth. In your example.

It is not about the table being full. It is about the hearts that stay connected, even when the seats are empty.

So tomorrow, I will set one less place, and say one more prayer of gratitude. For my family. For the grace that got us here. And for the gift of seeing what love looks like when you let it grow.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Choose well,

C.
